Gornji grad (Upper Town) – Medveščak
The quarter actually includes the first settlements, later serving as ground for the development of the City of Zagreb. These are the hills of Gradec and Kaptol, and areas on the slopes of Medvednica - Šalata and Tuškanac.
The Upper Town is the cultural and historical centre of the City, dominated by the neo-Gothic basilica known as the Zagreb Cathedral. There is also the largest Croatian sacral building, unique to its multicolour bell tower and the roof – the St. Marko's church- located on the square that bears the same name. In the vicinity, there are numerous parks and park-woods like Prekrižje, Zelengaj, Tuškanac, Orlovac and Remetski kamenjak.
Central and North Part of the district are the areas of urban villas and family houses, the green oasis in the City centre for all its residents.
In the vicinity there is also the most famous Zagreb cemetery Mirogoj, world famous for its arcades.
