Trnje

The city district Trnje has the most beautiful position in the City of Zagreb of all the city districts - it is mostly located on the river Sava and geographically it is in the very centre of the City.
The district covers part of Zagreb south of the railway, between Savska and Heinzelova Street and north area up to the river Sava. Along with the highly urbanized settlements of new constructions such as Savica, Trnje also comprises Vrbik, Martinovka, Cvjetno naselje, Veslačko naselje, Sigečica and Trnje in a narrow sense (Staro Trnje - Old Trnje), as well as Kruge and Kanal. This is also one of the more popular parts of the city to live in because of its excellent connections with other city districts.
The district Trnje contains a large number of higher education institutions such as Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, National and University Library, as well as Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall and Zagreb Main Bus Station.
